Tulips
Since I haven’t said anything about our trip to the park on 16 April, I shall just share a number of the many tulips photos I shot on that day. Specially dedicated to my readers and all tulips lovers.

So, did you like the vibrant colours of the photos? Did you feel how I felt? You know I wish I could give you more but the virtual tulips are all I can afford to give you.
Volunteering at Homestay Seminar
What can I say? Getting up this morning was a disaster. My whole body was sore and cramp here and there (and still is). I didn’t dance. I didn’t run. I didn’t carry a million tonnes of liquid. I didn’t fall.
But I did go out in the cold taking pictures without my jacket (who needs jacket? It was “warm”.). I did stand in our Drinks Corner helping out for hours without sitting. I also did sit on the hard floor with the kids, talking to them while they were busy painting (and had a hard time getting up).
So, the conclusion: I’m not as strong as before and not as “serba-boleh” as I used to.
Despite my complaints, I did enjoy our volunteer work yesterday for Tourism Malaysia. They organised a Homestay Seminar in Rotterdam and it was a private event. A group of Malay musicians and artists were flown over from Malaysia to entertain the guests. Our Minister, the Tourism head in NL, the Ambassador in NL, the head of the Malaysian Homestay were among the VIP/guests. Foods and beverages were both done by Perwakilan and Malaysian Association of the Netherlands.

Merry Christmas 2009

Dearest my beloved family, relatives and friends,
Wish you a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year 2010!
Love you all. xxx
Grandma Arlinis
I am coming home again for the second time this year. The first time was in July to see grandma and dad who were ill (dad was admitted in the hospital). Now, to see grandma who is in a critical condition in Kota Kinabalu. Her doctors told my family to ask all her close family to come home already.
My grandma, who is a 4th generation of Wong Loong descendants, is the eldest daughter or Mr Ligunjang from his second marriage and the mother of my father.
During my visit in July, I have made several photos of grandma. These 2 below are my favourites.

This shot was taken in Papar Hospital when grandma had to go for a check-up. This one is with a smile (after I made face or said something that made her smile or even laugh). 15 July 2009

Grandma and her daughters. Aunt N, Aunt B, Grandma and Aunt A
This shot is my favourite of the many pictures I have taken at Aunt A’s home in Tambunan. As usual, I had to do something to make grandma laugh. I am the eldest granddaughter in the family and I am close with my dad’s younger sisters. When grandma wanted to see someone in Keningau, we ladies had a small reunion in Tambunan. 26 July 2009
Shopping in Heidelberg
After a week of being in a ‘disable’ mood, DH and I decided to drive to Germany with our newly purchased car. We invited our friends L and A. Drove all the way from South Holland, Netherlands to Baden-Wattenberg in Germany in the autobahn with a maximum of 220 km/hour. Upon reaching Heidelberg, L and I went shopping while DH and A went to sit down somewhere and enjoyed their drinks.
This time the idea was not to visit Castle or anything. We just went to spoil ourselves. It was lovely.
Here are some pictures taken of the one long street of the shopping center. I felt like I was in Amsterdam.

We stayed at Rhein Hotel in Nierstein that night, which lies in another province. The next day, drove to Luxembourg but all shops were closed so we went back to Trier, to eat their sausages. In the afternoon, we drove back to Netherlands via Luxembourg and Belgium. In total, more than 1400 kms of driving and lots of money spent but we did enjoy. While DH was driving, the three of us, were either enjoying the weather or sleeping.
Have fun.
Rotterdam Today
I have no clue what’s going on with the server today but I lost all what I have typed the last half an hour or so when I pressed the Save Draft button. Instead of rewriting them, I guess I will just share some photos taken today. I hope I don’t waste my time on this one too.
All the buildings you see in the pictures below are near the Rotterdam Central Station.
The CS is under construction since 2006 and is planned to complete by 2010 (crossing my fingers, you know how the Dutch schedules are. Summer stop. Winter stop.).
Hence you see all the work going on.

The ING buildings

The Plaza building and Weston Hotel. I used to work at the Plaza on 10th floor, from 2006-2008 before joining ING in The Hague and later the present company.

Grootshandelsgebouw building which is a monument for the city. Our office is at the back.

Yours truly - going back to work from lunch. Our office is at the Grootshandelsgebouw.

Another one with Grootshandelsgebouw at the back

View from my old office in 2006-2008 to the CS construction. This was taken when I was still working with Reebok-Adidas as an International Accountant. I guess the construction has long begun when I took this in Sept 2006.

Wish I Was Home Today
Saturday: 23 May 2009
*Sob*Sob* I wish I was home today.
Today was Sis Myra and Marcel’s wedding reception in Ranau, Sabah. This reception is held in mami’s hometown for other family members to celebrate as well. Myrna, Stije and Little Zumi left first to Hong Kong and followed by Myra and Marcel. A week later, mami, Dan, Oma and her partner flew over to Malaysia.

We have friends from the States and from Australia coming home as well which makes their home-coming rather special.
Mami was sad that I couldn’t make it to this wedding reception. She was hoping I would surprise them (especially her) as I did many times before. In fact, I did plan about it. My last minute trip home. I was about to book the ticket but due to certain circumstances, I couldn’t make it. Too bad, I was already having fun daydreaming of how I was going to surprise them in Sabah. To them, to my family and to all friends. Alas…

Sad.. sad.. sad.. I wish I was on a jet plane a few days ago already and having fun with my family and friends back home at the moment.
