Happy Birthday Pa

Today is our Pa’s birthday. DH and I have decided to celebrate his birthday and to invite his lady friend and her family. These people have been very closed with my FIL on his last few years of his life.

Each year when Pa was still alive, we went out to his favourite Dutch Restaurant in town. As usual 7 of us would be having the delicious Dutch meal. We would start with a “voorgerechten”, then the “hoofdgerechten” and then the “nagerechten” (dessert). Finally coffee or tea. Pa loved his meal and each of us would praise how lovely our meal was. But by the end of our most delicious meal of the evening, I almost could not breath.

This evening, we chose another Dutch restaurant to celebrate his birthday. This place is also as chique as the other one and we have had a wonderful memory at this place also some years ago when celebrating his birthday. So, here we were. Had the delicious Dutch meal at this memorable place. The same lovely evening as every year except now without the birthday “boy” himself. A beautiful closure for the chapter of our Pa’s life.
