Leaving on a jet plane
Another 6 hours and we’ll be ready to leave the house to go to the airport. We are going on holiday which is actually visiting family and friends, eating local food back home, enjoying the weather and the country.
I’ll pray that everything will be ok, i.e. come back home to Netherlands safely.
I’ll update here when possible.
Today’s Facts
Fact # 1:
We received the passport-size harddrive of 320GB yesterday. I need it for my softwares to bring back to Malaysia, some of them are for my brother. DH checked the contents with his laptop then I checked it with my laptop. Then the unbelievable thing happened. I am not able to use it as my laptop is from the old version with limited power. Fortunately there is a hardware we can buy to have this fixed. An angel just whispered to me, get a new machine and say goodbye to this one. One of my brothers will be very happy.
Fact # 2:
I finally able to talk to my Mandarin teacher who turns out to be my aunt. We were so excited to see each other again and to catch up all the lost years between us. My main purpose of visiting home is to do some research on my future project. I guess another angel has just shown me a way to do this thing right. Thank you angel.
Fact # 3:
I had one of my brothers on the line today for more than half an hour, again. So far I heard the good and interesting stuff about my homestate from other people: the beautiful cities, 1 Borneo, new parks, the life etc. Never had I heard about the crime. Apparently it is getting worse in Kota Kinabalu since the economic crisis attacked the world when the crude oil increased dramatically a couple of months ago. Although the price has already back to where it stood, some countries are still suffering from this impact. It is to note that girls/ladies are advised not to walk alone when the night starts to fall in Kota Kinabalu nowadays. I hate to say that our people is immitating the westerns which is a dang shame. Where had the norms and values gone to?
Fact # 4:
As I am typing this, dear hubby is reading news happening in the country. In Vlinderveen, Spijkenisse, where we used to live before is now having a big fire. Not our old house but the shops where it started from the C-1000 supermarket. This tragedy is not only bad for the area and the people but also contributing the damage of the ozone layer.
Fact # 5:
Several weeks ago, when a family is back from a long summer holiday, they were shocked to find an empty house without anything left. Neighbours saw that there was a moving-company-transport around but didn’t notice that these people were stealing. What worse, it happened in our street. Just next several doors.
Fact # 6:
The lady companion/neighbour of my father-in-law, Mrs S, fell off on last Wednesday at her home. When I saw her, I thought somebody just hit her in the eyes and head. The surrounding of her eyes are purple, her forehead is yellow and darkblue, her other parts of the body are also blue-black. Everyone is glad that the fall didn’t take her life away as she is already not in a very good condition.
Fact # 7:
When visiting FIL today, he was unhappy that we were to go away for 3 weeks. This scenario is the worst we have to encounter every year (except last year when hubby didn’t come with me for the funeral in Malaysia). Fortunately Mrs S told FIL that we deserved to go away this year as we need to be with our family and to just enjoy some week off from all the terrible happenings this year. Finally FIL could accept it and asked dear hubby if everything had been arranged in case of his decease. This is something that my people in Malaysia don’t discuss when they are still alive. In fact, it is never discussed or they would say “touch wood”. In my opinion, this is rather crucial. In fact, we have already discussed about our last will and what we want to do with our body when we passed on.
Weekend Chores
My heart is bumping fast. Less than a week and we are home with family and friends in Malaysia. This weekend will be hard since we need to do everything this weekend. Shopping for souveniers, cleaning the house, doing the laundry, ironing, packing and making some phone calls to Malaysia.
Today I finished packing one luggage and it is now in the doorway, ready to go. The other one is almost full, just to put the toiletries and some other stuff that we still have to get from the shops. Too many stuff to bring but the weight allowed is only 20 kgs per person. Our luggage weighs 10 kilos and we can only bring about 30 kgs stuff. It is sad but it is good to see our family again and to taste the food and to feel the warmth.
