Happy Halloween and Happy All Souls Day

Happy Halloween to our American Friends or whoever is celebrating this.

We in Netherlands do not celebrate this otherwise I cannot imagine how the old people would look like when somebody knocks their door for trick or treats.

Happy All Souls day to our Christian family and friends.

Go sushi

I love Japanese food. Whenever I miss eating fish, I will go to any Japanese restaurants. Just thinking of the sushi, the raw fish, the sake, the wasabe made me really … well you know what I mean.

There are a couple All You Can Eat Japanese restaurants in Rotterdam, the one I always go to is Shabu Shabu. It’s a 3-fixed-price. Since I work during the weekdays, I always go to the weekend dinner. At Shabu-shabu, we can order as many as 8 times but in 2 hours and maximum order per person is 5-sort of dish, doesn’t matter big or small. So, normally when I go there, I ended up getting full by the 3rd order. Don’t think you can order more and do not finish them, cause you have to pay each dish when you don’t eat them all up. A doggie bag might be interesting but in this kind of chique restaurant, no way. They might not have me at one of their tables anymore in the future…

Anyway, this pic showed our second order but only part of the second order. Was with my 3 male colleagues, as usual, I am the only lady. :)

Winter Time

It’s already the autumn season since 21 September and last night the winter time started. At 03:00, the clocked went back to 02:00. So we have gained 1 hour to sleep nicely except for those who have to wake up early and go to work such as dear hubby.

So, I told mom, sis and everyone at home that our time difference is no longer 6 hours but 7.

Now you know… hehe..

Alone in Rotterdam Office

It’s weird to have this huge office for ourselves only. Soooo quiet and the office is full of boxes with documents to send to the archives.

As of last Monday, all of the colleagues from the other departments from Finance Shared Service Center (10th floor) in Rotterdam have moved to the Shared Service Center in Amsterdam. Only my team, 4 of us and 3 from another team left in such a huge office. My manager and I are the only permanent employee while the others are interim. The 2 of us decided earlier in February that we would not move to Amsterdam and would work till the transition of our responsibilities to countries.

Thank you Path Friends

I would like to share the love bestowed upon us from our Path friends.

My biggest thank you to Maggie from Australia for the beautiful page and for the thread at MPWF. Not to forget all who shared with us the happiness of our lives together for the last few years. These people have been with us forever. They are our best cyber family and friends. Thank you all.

Here are their messages… Too bad I cannot share the background and other beautiful images as well, they all are beautiful.

Happy 60th Birthday Papa

Dad, me and the Colosseum in Rome, ItalyYeayyy… Today is October 15th

Happy 60th birthday my dearest dad.

I am so happy that my dad has his birthday gift in advance and of course for my mom as well, it was also their 37th wedding gift.

My dream, that someday I would give my parents their gift without them having to spend even one cent during their honeymoon, has come true. I know dad is now having a blast at home with his wife, children and grandchildren, siblings, brothers/sisters in law, nephews and nieces and friends. I bet he is telling them every story during their trip to Netherlands. That’s my dad.

Hari Raya at Masliah

Being with your fellow Sabahans and also Malaysians are just great. You speak the language again, although in 2 different accent – one is Sabah accent and the other KL accent – we had a very nice time talking to each other.

Masliah’s girlfriends were there (they are West Malaysians) and another one came, a student in Switzerland, came all the way to Netherlands just for the weekend to celebrate the Raya with her sister’s friend (Suzie).

Mas cooked chicken curry, kuah sateh (satay sauce), stir-fried beef with something, chicken from the oven, vege and some other things. It was delicious, Mas.

Masliah and her daughter Sara.

Mas’s BIL’s wife, Mas herself, daughter Sarah, Sam, J, Suzi, Mas’ friend, and Suzi’s friend, Raehan, from Switzerland.

Time to go home… These 2 are Suzie’s kids.

Selamat Hari Raya

Hi all,

Selamat Hari Raya to all our Muslim friends.

In the Netherlands, the Muslim people is having their Ramadan feast today. Here we call it suikerfeest (sugar feast) or Eid Mubarak for some people. Most of the Muslims are from Marokko, Turkey, the rest are from Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Africa, and other part of Middle East and the world.

For us Malaysian (although I am not Muslim) in the Netherlands, we follow the Malaysian time. Our friends celebrate it “with” their family in Netherlands and in Malaysia.

Tomorrow, our friend Masliah is going to have an open-house for Hari Raya. So, Wim and I and our friends Samsiah and Michel are going there. Unfortunately none of us can make kuih raya. But surely we will enjoy the traditional Malay food. :)

Enjoy the Raya days.
