Visit from German Colleagues

My schedule is full but I’m enjoying every second of it.

At work, we had our German colleagues visiting us since Monday. Not just to visit but to take away my knowledge and skills concerning to my work. I shared with them all I know about my responsible countries. The work structure in Adi is differerent from Rbk. So, what I am doing will be divided into several people. Only quite a few of my tasks go to the local Controllers but the rest to the accountants.

After the transfer, I will still be busy for these countries especially in the sales regions. For the most, I will be busy with the other MacGG accounts. It’s a nice work but there will be a project going on to transfer what I’m doing back to UK. I cannot wait for the final day. Hopefully around November. Cross my fingers on it.

Luxembourg Visit

I had 3 days off from work from 16-18 July and then back to work for 2 days. My time is therefore occupied for my work, home and my beloved parents.

Yesterday, dear hubby and I took our parents to Belgium. The earlier plan to bring them to Brussel. So, while in Brussel, Wim and I thought, it’s not too far to go to Luxembourg. So, off we went. Only a few hours. Took loads of pictures in Luxembourg, went to a cafe for a drink, dad with his huge glass of beer and us either coffee, tea or orange juice.

Dad and mom enjoying the beautiful Luxembourg city.

Mom and me.

Mom and Dad are here

Yippeeee… my parents are here. They arrived this morning together with cousin Paula and her Dutch husband Lambert. They came by Singapore Airlines and while waiting for them, I saw many Malaysians as well. Malaysian Airlines and Singapore Airlines have about the same schedule leaving Malaysia and Singapore. Wow, I cannot believe it. Finally I have both my beloved parents in this country.

Paula and Lambert went straight away to their Drenthe (about 3-hours drive from here) to their parents by train. Wim and I took mom and dad home. After taking shower and rest a bit, we took them both to the Chinese Boat in Rotterdam where you can find a hotel, a restaurant and an Asian supermarket in that big boat, China style.

We bought loads of asian food. Of course we can always go to the Vietnamese supermarket in our city, or to the China town in Rotterdam or the Asian supermarket near our home but it’s nice to show them around.

FYI, right now, mom and dad are in our guest room, sleeping softly in the twin-size waterbed.

We will have a nice time together.

Was in Malaysia

I’m back to update this blog.

After the news, I booked a flight to Malaysia, then a domestic flight to Sabah. Told dear hubby to just go to England. I did not get a seat on the 23rd of June but on the next day. I reached KLIA around 6am and then reached KKIA around afternoon. It was the 25th, my brother Junior’s birthday. My brother Johnny picked me up and on the way home, we stopped over at Papar town to buy cake for Jr. It was good to see my family again.

I didn’t manage to go to the funeral. So, the next day we went to my aunt’s house (uncle’s widow). I met all my cousins, aunts, granny and uncles. This would be the second sad tragedy to the family in 2 months time.

On the 27th, it was the 7th day and we went to aunt’s house to gather and pray together for uncle’s soul. No, there’s no ‘momisok’ for us because my Christian family does not believe this anymore. I don’t mind the tradition but the feeling of having all lights out and wait till the spirit of my late uncle came to visit was just too much for me. I always made sure I have people around me and if there was 10 Holy Rosary available, I would take them all to my body. Yes, you can imagine Scoobee Doo and me.

On the 28th, I went to see my father side relatives in Penampang. The was a Wong Loong committee meeting at Jane Manjaji’s office. My second cousin, Celine, picked me up in KK. I met my two great men from the WL family too : Jeffrey Leiking and Winston Sibinil. I won’t be there at the gathering but at least I have already had a glimpse of our WL family tree book. :)

After the meeting, I went to uncle (Datuk) James Ligunjang’s house. Uncle prepared traditional food for me: Fish soup with bambangan fruit, pork meat, bambangan pickled, and home-style vege. What a thoughtful uncle. Later that evening, Uncle, auntie Lucy and Maya (the youngest girl) sent me back to Ulu Kimanis, Papar.

My brother Augustine was there and so glad to see him. He works in Keningau and sometimes has to go up to Kota Belud to his wife, Esther. Esther works in Kudat as a teacher and their life is unfortunately not like other normal people. I mean, they see each other a couple of times in a month because my brother is a very busy person at work also.

I spent most of my time with my family and therefore it was not a holiday to me. However, I managed to buy my dad’s ticket to Netherlands and insurance for both my mom and dad. This was our last minute decision, I decided to let my dad go to Netherlands with my mom and have their honeymoon.

Mama tua, I'm taking your bag! During my short trip to Sabah then to my sister in KLOn the 3rd July morning, I said goodbye to my family (parents, siblings, in-laws, nephew and niece) and left Kota Kinabalu to go to Kuala Lumpur to see my sister and her family. I managed to go shopping for clothes at Jaya Jusco for myself, for my sister and her kids. I had laksa Sarawak there. Yummy. After that, my BIL David drove us back to their appartment. I was so happy to meet my 2 nephews again. Oh well, my first meeting with my new nephew, James Damian. David brought home food he bought for me, the taste of Malaysia. He is really a sweet brother (in law). Sadly, I had to say goodbye to them all around 9pm because I had a plane to catch to Netherlands around 11.50pm.

Arrived in Amsterdam the next morning and went straight home. I took shower, changed and then both Wim and I left home to work. Yep! It’s month-end and the people need me.

That was my 8-day in Malaysia. Pretty tiring both emotional and physical.
