April Summary

Here’s the most important part of what I have done in April.

April 6th – Uncle James Wong, mom’s eldest brother passed away on Good Friday, 6 April. In the morning, his eldest daughter who married more than 10 years without having a child gave birth to a baby girl whom they called Esther.

April 7th – My younger sister gave me to a baby son on the next day after Uncle passed away. They named my nephew James Damian to honour the late uncle. May his soul rest in peace.

April 12th – I took 2 days off (12th and 13th) from my work and went to Amsterdam to celebrate my birthday with my dear friend/sister, Myrna. In the afternoon, she, her little daughter and I went to her mother’s house in Haarlem (I call her mami Molly). And there I got a surprise birthday cake. We had fun, lots of pics and little Zumi took pictures as if it was her birthday. :) In the evening, Myrna and I went to the city in Amsterdam. Enjoyed our dinner together with her partner and his friend. Then off we went to another cafe nearby then later on the 2 of us went to a very chique bar where all the interesting people meet up. Around midnight we went to a Jazz club to enjoy the live Jazz performance. Lots of fun night and it was about 3 am when we reached her home, walking like pink-panter. :)

April 16th – My colleague and I bought delicious cakes from the Bijenkorf in Rotterdam.

The Kadazans control the beauty after Jonathan's confirmation ceremony. Wedel, GermanyApr 21-22, we (Wim, mami Molly and I) drove from home to Wedel (near Hamburg), Germany for the confirmation of our girlfriend’s (Flores) son, Jonathan. Quite a lot of Sabahan friends turned up from several countries in Europe including Scandinavia. Patty, Maureen and family and Christine came from 3 different places in Norway; Vic and family and Leo were 2 families from England; Maggie and husband, Maggie’s big sister Bibiana and husband, Corah and husband and Agnes, all are from Germany; and my husband and me and Molly from the Netherlands. Of course there were some Malaysians and German people attending as well. It was a nice gathering for us the Sabahans.

Beautiful Nurnberg, a city in Bavaria during my business trip to Bavaria in AprilApr 24-27, I went to the headoffice of Adidas in Herzogenaurach, Germany to discuss about our expectations from both side. It was my first time meeting with most people whom I was going to work with apart from the Controller whom I have met in September in Rotterdam. I had arranged various meetings with various people in various department and by the time it ended, I was quite exhausted but quite satisfied.

Burfday

A few tips to celebrate your birthday:

  • Get yourself out of the office
  • Take a couple of days off
  • Leave the city and explore another city
  • If you’re married, be single for a couple of days
  • Spend time with friends whom you almost never spend time together
  • Play with someone’s kid(s)
  • Meet new people
  • Talk to strangers
  • Pamper yourself
  • Buy yourself a gift or two
  • Don’t forget your sexy boots
  • Have sushi
  • Sing along with the group of band
  • Take silly pictures
  • Go to a bar which is a meeting point for the high-class people
  • Go to Jazz club instead of Salsa or Trance
  • Get a taxi home, no bus, no driving, no walking
  • Walk like the pink-panther when you reach your friend’s home
  • Laugh for the wonderful time spent on your ‘something-different’ burfday
Amsterdam at night

Two gorgeous guys

Yoohoooo!!! ;)

And so did I spend my birthday with my friends! You should try it… Then take another day(s) off to celebrate it with your dear ones (your partner, your kids and other family members)… as in the family tradition, something about similar every year, which is quite refreshing too.
Happy birthday to you too!
